Summer Hours

Please note that over the summer (for the months of July and August) we will be open on Mondays from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Show & Tell

Share a story, a treasured item, a research success.  Everyone will have several minutes to "show" and "tell" about that genealogy gem that still makes you smile, warms your heart, or gets you pumped up to research some more.  If you prefer to just listen and be inspired, that's okay too.

Join us at the IGS library August 1st at 4 p.m.  Coffee and cookies provided courtesy of our promotional partner, Vibrant Coffeehouse + Kitchen.

When:  Thursday, Aug 1 at 4:00 PM
Where: IGS Library
Cost: FREE

Coffee and cookies provided by Vibrant Coffeehouse + Kitchen.
Take a break the next time you're researching at the IGS library.
Vibrant is located one block west of IGS at 520 East Grand Avenue.

Digging Deeper for Answers

Are you looking from more information about your Iowa ancestor?  Take a deeper look into what's available with our county affiliates.  Many counties in Iowa have their own genealogical or historical society.  It's possible they may hold the information you're seeking about your Iowa ancestor.

Check out our County Research webpage to learn more about these partners.  You may just find the answers you're looking for...

Certificate Program

Do you know about our Certificate Program? Pioneer, Centennial and
Statehood Certificates contain pedigree charts and other documentation
which verifies that the Indexed Pioneer was in Iowa either since 1846, 1856
or for the last 100 years.
