Lunch & Learn: UNI Rod Library

Rod Library at the University of Northern Iowa serves the campus and broader community, with the mission "to empower and inspire our community to discover, imagine, create and innovate."

UNI librarians will discuss library and archival resources available in person and online for use in genealogical research.
  • Jaycie Vos (University Archivist): will focus on print materials in the rare books collection centering around Iowa state, county, and city / town history. She will also discuss print and digital records from the University Archives in cases of alumni research, such as yearbooks, catalogs, and registers.
  • Chris Neuhaus (Reference Librarian): will focus on freely available primary history sources such as the many digital archives of Iowa historical newspapers, historical digital newspaper collections for other states, and the historical newspapers made available by Chronicling America.
If time allows, we may also touch on digitized historical student newspapers and yearbooks from Iowa colleges and universities and the many freely available digitized magazines made available by HathiTrust, Internet Archive, and Google Books Advanced.
