- Iowa researchers are extremely fortunate when it comes to vital record resources. Ours start earlier than many states and the documents contain valuable information not recorded by many other states. The icing on the cake is the partnership between the State Archives of Iowa, FamilySearch and Ancestry to get indexed images online. We'll explore the rules controlling access, the evolution of the records and their content, and finally, where to find them, whether online, in a library or in person.
