Special Interest Groups (SIGs)

The following groups specialize in personal research in their topic areas. They meet as a group, similar to genealogy clubs. Any interested person is invited to attend.

GERMAN INTEREST GROUP

The group meets on the first Monday of each month at 7:00 pm. in the IGS library.

Offers the opportunity to share knowledge of German research. You will find experienced researchers, translators and travelers with extensive personal knowledge of the various regions in Germany.

IRISH INTEREST GROUP

The Group meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm. in the IGS library.

Emphasis is placed on documenting the family in the United States to uncover the county of their Irish origins. Members are encouraged to bring their family research for group discussion and problem solving.

AFRICAN AMERICAN INTEREST GROUP

Described by the group as a "Village Gathering," the AAIG beginning in Aug meets the 1st Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM at the IGS Library. All those interested in tracing their African-American roots are welcome to attend. No Meeting in JULY!

NORWEGIAN INTEREST GROUP

The group meets on the 4th Tuesday of the month (except December) at 7:00PM at the library. The group is designed for learning how to research in Norway, helping others in their search for ancestors, sharing: information, websites, and ideas of other and new resources.

VETERANS INTEREST GROUP

The Veterans Interest Group meets on the 2nd Saturday of the month, 9 AM - 11 AM,  at the library. The group is designed for learning how to research veterans and share: information, websites, and ideas of other and new resources.
