User Groups

The Iowa Genealogical Society hosts several special interest group, each with a focus on a unique ethnic group or nationality.

These groups are an excellent resource for additional help with your research and brick walls. Sessions are informal and educational.

All groups meet at IGS.

African-American Special Interest Group meets at 7 p.m the first Tuesday of the month. Contact: IGS c/o the IGS Library.

British/Welsh and Scottish Interest Group meets at 7 p.m. the second Thursday of the month. Contact: IGS c/o the IGS Library.

German Special Interest Group meets at 7 p.m. the first Monday of the month. Contact IGS c/o the IGS Library.

Irish Special Interest Group meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month. Contact IGS c/o the IGS Library.

The Italian American Special Interest Group meets at 6:30 p.m. the 2nd Tuesday of the month. Contact IGS c/o the IGS Library.

The Norwegian Special Interest Group meets at 7 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of the month. Contact IGS c/o the IGS Library.

In addition, the Legacy Users Group (genealogy software) meets at 1 p.m. the 3rd Thursday of the month.
