Iowa Research, Part I

When we research in Iowa, we use the standard resources – census, vital records, probate, land, etc. – but those resources have features unique to Iowa that can be overlooked.  So these two session will cover both the basic resources as well as the unique features for Iowa researchers.
Part I – Census records including territorial censuses, agricultural schedules and both federal and state censuses; Vital records including a discussion of the law controlling access, filmed records, odd gaps and access through the state archives;  Military records including records at the state archives, the registry of Veterans graves, and the Veterans Bonus records.

Open to the public – $5 IGS members / $10 non-members. Pre-registration is required.
